As the first Employee Engagement and Development Director at The Improve Group, James is excited to further develop human resources functions at the organization with a focus on employee performance and inclusion. James applies his deep and varied human resources experience to promote growth of employees in various ways. His areas of focus include leadership coaching, incorporating diversity and inclusion, people and talent management, and employee relations.

Brings to the Community

James has a passion for working with youth through coaching and mentoring, for example as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters. He also is involved in various organizations committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including the National Association of African American Human Resource Professionals and the National Association of Multi-Ethnicity in Communications. In addition to his work at The Improve Group, James serves as an adjunct instructor at Saint Mary’s University, where he develops and teaches courses in human resources.
