I started off this series on funding opportunities with a couple of granting organizations that cover a national audience. Last week I recounted some of the information I learned about the current state of the Minnesota funding community. This week I will highlight a local funder as a follow-up on Minnesota prospects.

This week’s pick: The Gannett Foundation – This corporate foundation makes grants in those communities in which Gannett Co., Inc. has a local daily newspaper or television station. For our state that would be KARE 11 in Minneapolis and the St Cloud Times newspaper in St Cloud. Grants and matching gifts are given to nonprofit organizations for improving education, health and quality of life in the community. Submission deadlines are on January 15, May 15 and August 15 of each year with an average granted amount of $1,000 to $4,000.
