Research is a passion for Improve Group staff members, a passion anchored in the mission and goals of our clients. We “demystify” research and evaluation by focusing on issues that all stakeholders understand—the difference they hope to make, what evidence they rely on to show success and how to gather and share information about the impact of their programs. Our staff members have academic backgrounds in the research methods used in public policy, public health, education, urban and regional planning, and international development.
Our custom-designed research products include:
- Sampling and analysis methods that produce valid, reliable results
- Interviews with key leaders or interested people
- Household, employee or target-population surveys by internet, text message, phone or mail
- Focus group design, recruitment and facilitation
- Facilitated work sessions to interpret data and develop recommendations
- Clear, concise reports that describe key findings and provide detailed results
We bring creative, innovative approaches to research design, data gathering and analysis to help programs and organizations reach their full potential. We begin by listening closely to our clients to understand what is needed to help build successful programs, and design our evaluation work accordingly.

We enjoyed working with the Improve Group. They were very responsive as the research evolved, and were able to work effectively with seventeen councils, each with different programs and populations. We were excited to learn at the end of the project that the research was both valid and meaningful to the programs.
